Roy Zhao

Roy Zhao is a 11th grader at Bellaire High School in Houston, Texas, USA.

Roy is the U16 captain for his youth soccer team and was recently selected for the USL Academy, where he competes alongside collegiate players. Beyond athletics, he serves as a development agent for Civic Leaders of America and as a reporter for his school’s nationally recognized newspaper, Three Penny Press , where he has published multiple articles and earned a Best of SNO recognition. Roy also competes in Public Forum Debate at both the national and local circuit levels. He plans to pursue studies in economics, business, or finance with the goal of creating positive impact through leadership and innovation.

Outside of academics and leadership, Roy is passionate about music, especially artists like ASAP Rocky. He is a dedicated soccer fan, with Red Star Belgrade as his favorite team, and he also enjoys gaming and watching anime in his free time.

Roy joined TheStudyEdge after discovering, through his passion for socio-economics and debate, how deeply issues of education and wealth inequality affect opportunities in the United States. Researching and debating these topics opened his eyes to the systemic barriers many students face, and he wants to help create a space where knowledge is accessible to everyone.

He is excited for the year ahead with TheStudyEdge and looks forward to contributing and learning alongside fellow students.
